Steelways,
Inc. is a steel design and fabrication company located in
Newburgh, NY and was established in 1968. Over the years Steelways,
Inc. has been involved in many extensive steel projects. Some
notable projects include the replating of the Throgs Neck
Bridge in New York City and the construction of many U.S.
Navy vessels. Steelways, Inc. has also constructed and installed
over 700 steel pool vessels in high-rise buildings across
the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut).
LOCATION
Steelways, Inc. is situated on waterfront property located
on the west side of the Hudson River in Newburgh, New York.
In addition to being located on the Hudson River, a major
shipping artery, the facility is also serviced by CSX Railroad,
Interstate Route I-84, and Stewart International Airport.
FACILITY
The property is a shipyard facility consisting of sixty (60)
waterfront acres with three (3) sheltered harbors. Concrete
marine launchways capable of accomodating vessels up to 300'
long x 125' wide terminate in the north harbor. A marine railway
capable of hauling 500 ton vessels 140' long x 65' wide terminates
in the south harbor.
The main shipping channel runs adjacent to
the main pier, and extends approximately 4000' east, across
the river.
Three (3) rail spurs terminate at the north
end of the facility. An additional nine (9) acres of property
are located directly across the street from the main facility
and are used for parking and storage.
A 54,800 sq.ft. steel fabrication shop* with
3-10 ton overhead cranes (27'-0 under the hook) represents
the epicenter of the steel fabricating operation.
*Includes separate building and twenty five
(25) acres approximately 1/8 mile from the main facility.
